The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun strengthening its strategy for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. Learning from its 2021 defeat, the party has undertaken large-scale preparations this time. BJP's goal is to unseat Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and for this, the party is focusing on strengthening its organization and reaching out to voters in an effective manner.
A senior central BJP leader, in an exclusive conversation, revealed that the party is paying special attention to reinforcing its organizational structure. In the 2021 elections, many leaders from other parties had joined the BJP, but they left after the elections. This time, the party is taking a well-thought-out approach and relying only on dedicated workers.
The leader further stated that the organizational election process within the BJP is being completed gradually. The announcement of mandal (local unit) presidents has already been made, and the names of district organizational presidents have been almost finalized. The district presidents will be announced by the first week of March, and within a week after that, the name of the new state president will be declared. As soon as the state president is announced, BJP will go full throttle into its election campaign across the state.
According to party leaders, the BJP has enrolled 5 million new members this time, which signifies reaching nearly 5 million families. The party believes that if it retains the support of these members and secures one-third of the total votes, it will be successful in capturing power. To achieve this, the BJP is planning an extensive public outreach campaign.
A senior party leader also mentioned that an aggressive movement against the Trinamool Congress government will soon be launched on the streets. The BJP aims to challenge the policies of the Mamata government and rally public support in its favor. It remains to be seen how effective BJP's strategy proves to be in the 2026 electoral battle.
